When the city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province got 1,250 kilograms of frozen salmon from Norway, at the city's Taiping International Airport on an Asiana Airlines flight, on Feb 23, it was the first time for the Kuitong Trading Co to import Norwegian salmon after the airport was approved as a land port for frozen aquatic products last November.
When asked about the deal, one of the company’s managers remarked, “Thanks to the service, it took only three days from Norway to Harbin,” then added that the frozen salmon has a shelf life of no more than 14 days, but they previously had to import the seafood from the cities of Chengdu or Chongqing in the south and it took more time and cost more to transportation.
