The city of Harbin, Heilongjiang province is planning a railway theme park with a groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for late June, according to a local urban and rural construction committee announcement, on May 26.
The theme park is planned at 140,000 square meters and stretches for about 5 kilometers, from Senlin street in the Daoli district to Jingbei road on Sun Island in the Songbei district.
The project will include a new museum covering Harbin’s railway history, a greenbelt area and parking facilities. The previous Railway Culture Park in the planned area will also get a renovation to greet visitors in a new way and authorities say the park is meant to promote a low-carbon transportation lifestyle, less driving, and more walking.
