The final competition of the “Dengta Cup” Ice Hockey Seeding Match concluded in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province on Oct 15; the top two teams will represent China to compete against global opponents at the “Dengta Cup” International Youth Ice Hockey Invitational Tournament that will be held in the United States.
The competition, initiated by Wang Jialian, a Chinese-American, aims to provide a platform for ice hockey teams to exchange skills and share experiences, helping the sport of ice hockey develop faster.
The “Dengta Cup” International Youth Ice Hockey Invitational Tournament has been successfully held for 10 years, with the participation of ice hockey teams from the United States, Canada, Finland, Netherlands, Japan and Italy.
In addition, Wang Jialian has established 36 ice hockey training schools in China since 2005, helping China cultivate over 4,000 ice hockey players.
“27 of the total schools come from Heilongjiang province,” said the director of Harbin Sports Bureau when he received an interview with Chinanews.com.
Expecting to compete for medals at the ice hockey invitational tournament, the Chinese team will also learn ice hockey skills and advanced management models from the United States, the official added.
