Cui Fenghua rides a train during her travels, which took her to 17 different countries. Cui is one of the “post-85” generation in China. She graduated from Beijing Foreign Language University and obtained a master’s degree in 2014. She has worked as a teacher, translator and librarian. She has also run her own business and been an environmental protection volunteer in Africa. In 2015, Cui resigned from her job and started to travel, taking luggage of just 25 kilograms.
Cui holds a Chinese flag at the South Pole. She has travelled to 17 countries in Latin America with 150,000 yuan ($22,000) in a year. She usually eats in other people’s home
and stays with them.
