A cultural exchange festival was held in Harbin from Oct 31 to Nov 4, for elderly people from China and South Korea.
A total of 120 elderly people form South Korea’s Kwangju city made an economic tour and undertook sightseeing in Harbin.
Participants from both China and South Korea gave performances displaying their positive attitudes towards life.
The South Korean visitors toured scenic spots such as Harbin Central Avenue, Sophia Church and the former base of Japan’s notorious Unit 731.
They visitors learned about Harbin’s history, culture and tourist sites during the cultural exchange. The group is also due to tour other cities in Heilongjiang province.
Kwangju has pleasant weather, and excellent medical care facilities. Heilongjiang and Kwangju have solid communication foundations. They have signed a cultural exchange agreement for senior figures from both countries, and a bilateral agreement for tourist development.
According to these agreements, Heilongjiang will arrange for 3,000 senior people to visit Kwangju for cultural and sports exchanges, and Kwangju will also send 3,000 senior people to Heilongjiang each year.
