Cell phone users in Heilongjiang province will all have to register their real names before the end of this month, according to the Heilongjiang Provincial Communications Administration.
Those cell phone users who don’t register using their real names will be suspended from using their phones starting Nov 1, according to the announcement.
The announcement, jointly made by Heilongjiang Unicom, Heilongjiang Mobile and Heilongjiang Telecom, stated that any user applying for a cell phone SIM card, wireless card, or wired broadband internet, will have to show their valid documentation when purchasing.
Services will be refused to those who refuse to provide their identity when applying for communications services.
