Jilin Beishan Park Scenic Area

Situated 4 kms in the northwest of Jilin city, Beishan Park is featured as the best venue for its summer lotus flowers and winter "rime ice". Known as "scared ground for nine dragons", the scenic area was originally called Jiulong Mountain (Nine Dragon Mountain) and said to be "the emerging place for dragons" 300 years ago. Emperor Kangxi and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty ever made a round and climbed the mountain for sight-seeing. The legend of "nine dragon culture" adds more mysteries to the "auspicious place". Formally the park was established in 1927, the park has undergone renovations and expansion many times since then.

The Beishan scenic area blends traditional Chinese culture mix with Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and folk culture. Its landscape complex cover temples, pavilions, lakes, buildings, kiosk, bridges, corridors, terraces and memorials. It is looked as a reminiscent of Suzhou gardens in Northeast China. The area is famous for folk temple fairs. It is said  "Qianshan Temple tops Northeast China, and Beishan Temple fair is better than Qianshan".   

The annual temple fairs is to held in the park from March to April 18 and 28 according to Chinese calendar. There visitors can join in many local traditional activities, for example, the "Yangko" typical Chinese northeast folk dance.  


Bus: Take Route 1 and 101 buses at the Railway Station and Passenger Coach Station and get off at Shuimendong Station, take Route 7 and 107 buses to get off at Beishan Station, or take Route 8 bus to get off at Desheng Gate; take Route 42, 59, 45, and 46 buses at other stations in the urban area to reach the scenic area;
